A MESSAGE FROM THE OWNERs...

Howdy and welcome to Steamworks! Our venue has been built from the ground up (quite literally, you should see the blisters on Harry's hands) to be a fun, flirty, fabulous heavy-RP venue. What does heavy-RP mean?, you may be asking. If you don't know or are unsure, don't worry!At Steamworks, we have developed our own backstories and lore for our characters (we call them original characters or OCs), and the same goes for most of our customers. When these characters interact with others in the venue, these interactions are said to be done in character or IC - much in the same way that actors in a movie or play perform a scene together. In our case, the entire venue is a scene with multiple actors and storylines playing out at the same time over the course of the evening (and often carrying over outside of the venue). Because interactions are performed in character, there is an expectation that everyone that enters engages in the same way and remains in character as much as possible.But what if I don't have a backstory or a character? What if I've never done this before and I'm trying to learn? Hey! It's okay! The first step is trying and anyone that roleplays has taken that first step, so RELAX - you're among friends. Anyone wearing the RP tag very likely has been in your shoes, and we love to see new people take their first plunge into roleplaying because, honestly, once you start... it's addictive. So, if you're confused or intimidated or worried - don't be! Just ask someone around you for help! And if you don't have an elaborate backstory established, chances are as you interact with others, you'll find yourself building it without evening knowing it!We also strongly recommend checking out this excellent primer on roleplaying in Final Fantasy XIV written by the folks at The Kweh! (link goes to site). Everything you'd ever want to know is spelled out in really easy-to-understand chapters, and it's a great resource for both sprouts and veterans alike.We look forward to your OC joining us, throwing on that RP tag, and emoting and doting the night away with us Steamworks!

Steamworks Brewery and Barhouse strives to be your home for bards, brews and scenic views! Our brewery is nestled on the shores of Shirogane, where the warm breeze off the Ruby Sea meets frosty cold tankards full of our signature handcrafted beers - the perfect place to unwind after a long day of adventure or gather with friends to enjoy the evening.Our full-service bar offers six specialty beers, such as our Bottoms Up Pale Ale, in addition to a wide selection of drinks and top-notch bar food. We're also proud to showcase the finest solo bards, bands, and entertainers from across the realm on our Steamworks Stage.At Steamworks, you're more than a guest — you're part of the story. We invite you and your friends to bring your OCs in, pull up a barstool, kick back with a cold one, tell a few stories, enjoy the music, and indulge in the most fun you can have this side of Kugane!

OUR MISSION

Steamworks Brewery and Barhouse strives to be a safe and welcoming space for LGBTQIA+ roleplayers, but we gladly welcome all allies and citizens of Eorzea with open arms who are at least 21 years old. We are a heavy RP venue with ongoing internal storylines, and our goal is to build a community around them. We invite you to interact with and influence these stories and the stories of those around you!

VENUE RULES

Steamworks Brewery and Barhouse strives to be a safe and RP-immersive environment suitable for a variety of adult-oriented leisure activities. We expect our patrons to act accordingly - with common sense within the rules and guidelines set below. Visitors violating these rules can be banned from our community immediately.

  • Steamworks is a RP-heavy venue. That means our staff and patrons are performing in character and are expected to remain in character as much as possible. Out-of-character (OOC) interactions are fine, but any OOC comments can and should be expressed using standard conventions; please make sure you are clear when performing them.

  • If you're unsure about RP etiquette, feel free to ask one of our staff or check out this excellent primer: The Kweh!

  • We are a 21+ venue. Users found to be underage will be immediately removed and blacklisted from our property and Discord channel.

  • While we are a 21+ venue and community, we request that you refrain from using NSFW behavior/animations/glamours while visiting.

  • While we certainly encourage a fun and flirty environment, we ask that you do not engage in public ERP while in the venue at any time - please use private chat functions (tell/party) or do so outside of the property.

  • Be respectful to staff and patrons at all times. The following behaviors will not be tolerated: being disruptive, trolling, bullying, harassment, toxicity, racism, bigotry, stalking, threatening violence or harm, doxing or exposing personal information. Violators will be immediately banned from our property.

  • Consent in RP is mandatory - this is not negotiable. If you are asked to refrain from interacting with a patron or member of the staff, please do so immediately. Violators may be asked to leave or banned from our property.

  • We highly encourage the use of the RP tag while visiting and interacting within the venue. The wearing of tags other than the RP (LFP/LFM) is restricted as they are reserved for staff use only during open hours.

  • These rules apply to our Discord server as well in addition to other rules found on the server.

HARRY OLDMAN

CO-OWNER / HEAD BREWMASTER

Haerund Ahldmannsyn, known by his stage name, Harry, has been everything from a fisherman in his youth, to an entertainer, dancer, and courtesan upon arriving in Limsa Lominsa, to a craftsman and brewmaster today. After working in burlesque clubs and bathhouses, he has partnered up with an old friend to open a bar below the brewery to create a home-away-from-home for anyone that needs one.Harry's a natural flirt, loves bad puns and wordplay, and will sneak in a double entendre as often as he thinks he can get away with. However, he can be equally serious when the situation calls for it. He's also fiercely protective of his staff, his friends, and the bar, and will often run in swinging, sometimes at the risk of making things worse, to protect them.For more information about Harry, visit his OC page at harryoldman.com.

CO-OWNER / HEAD BARTENDER

Clarice had a difficult upbringing. Neglected by his family, he survived through emotional manipulation and nimble fingers. He rose in rank and power with an unexpected opportunity in entertaining for his country's leader, dazzling crowds while secretly working to rebel against his superior. However, something inside him broke his secrecy when he was ordered to separate a mother from her child. He instantly used his talents to escape his wretched homeland.Soon after leaving, Clarice met Harry, an equally talented soul with fire in his eyes and kindness behind every grin. They quickly formed a bond deeper than either expected, built on shared struggle and the desire to find and create all the joy life can offer. They crossed into new metaphorical territory, leaving old lives behind and making new friends. BASH BLOOM

RESIDENT BARD

Bash was born and raised under the shadowy canopies of the Shroud into a large family of Keepers. He developed a love for music, story-telling, and theatrics at a young age, and would often lose himself in books and sheet music, igniting within himself the desire to hold the rapt attention of an audience at every opportunity. As he grew up, he began seeking out employment as a traveling bard to feed this desire for attention.Bash is friendly and talkative, taking pride in being able to push aside his own shyness in the name of making new friends from all walks of life. He's articulate and flirtatious, and loves getting to know people over drinks and bawdy barroom jokes.He now co-owns Tidekeeper's Rest with his husband, Rohan, is in a relationship with Harry, and has taken up the position of resident bard at Steamworks. KIT BRADDOCK

APPRENTICE / PART-TIME BARTENDER

Steamworks' jack-of-all-trades, Kit is currently studying under Harry's tutelage learning the craft of brewing. When not working the kettles, exchanging kegs, or fetching supplies and transporting beer all around Eorzea as Harry's retainer, he's likely either out dancing the night away, scarfing down street food in Kugane, or looking for new apparel to add to his burgeoning wardrobe.He loves to talk - perhaps a bit too much at times. He's typically high-energy and aloof and, while he may be a little cocky and a bigger show-off, he's got a good heart, loves to make people laugh, and is just here to have a good time, even if he's the one that has to create it.
